About our Subscriptions and Features

Monthly video output numbers depend on subscription turnaround times, and the amount of revisions requested.

Currently our FIT subscription offers 3 short video/revision requests monthly. Perfect for posting bi-weekly videos.

And our FIT and FLEX subscriptions offer 5 short video/revision requests monthly. Suited for weekly video posting.

Additionally other factors may influence video output numbers, like response times, file availability, brief clarity, and or clear communication.

For more monthly videos, additional subscriptions can be purchased. Contact us for more information.

Yes, videos up to 60 seconds can be requested through Double-ups.

Each video longer than 30 seconds counts as two requests.

For example, instead of six short videos, three longer ones can be produced in a month. Double-ups are done on a per-request basis.

No, only one video project is handled at a time.

A new request can be activated only after an active project is completed.

However, f
or simultaneous work on multiple videos, additional subscriptions can be purchased. Contact us for more information.

“No contracts” means no hassles. As in no delaying negotiations, no signatures, no contract development periods, and no fixed termination dates.

Cut It Short works via a tiered pricing subscription-based model. This way subscriptions are easily purchased and activated. And when a subscription is canceled, there will be no surprises afterwards.

Yes, downloadable invoices for subscriptions and add-on payments are available in PDF format in the dedicated client portal.

No, all subscriptions are automatically renewed.

As long as raw video footage is uploaded, and new projects are requested, editing will continue. Monthly billing is at 30 days, quarterly billing at every 3 months.

Yes, the auto-renewal of a subscription can be canceled anytime before the end of the subscription period from within the client portal.

A request can be a new video creation or a revision of an existing video. Each request is counted as either a new video or a revision.

For instance, if a plan includes five requests per month, this could mean creating five new videos, or any combination of videos and revisions, such as four new videos and one revision, or two new videos and three revisions.

The flexibility allows users to allocate their requests according to their specific needs within the given subscription’s limit.

Pauses can last up to six months and are only available on quarterly subscriptions.

If there are fewer video requests, subscriptions can be paused. Toggle pauses on and off in the client portal.

No charges will be incurred during a pause, except for the day the subscription is paused and unpaused. To make the best use of pauses, it’s recommended to pause in the evenings and unpause in the mornings, based on the local EU, Amsterdam time-zone.

Subscription billing cycles are monthly at 30 days, and quarterly at 90 days. For example, pausing a quarterly subscription after 45 days leaves 45 days for future use. Just toggle ‘Resume Subscription’ or ‘Unpause’ in the client portal to re-use it.

From the online dedicated client portal, toggle ‘Unpause Subscription’ next to the appropriate subscription, and it will commence immediately.

To make the best use of pauses, it’s recommended to pause in the evenings and unpause in the mornings, based on the local EU, Amsterdam time-zone.

It is possible to change a subscription plan by choosing a new subscription, after your current subscription is cancelled.

No, refunds are not issued. The revision process ensures videos are corrected until satisfactory. If still unhappy, the subscription can be canceled at any time.

No, turnaround times and the number of monthly requests are fixed for each individual subscription plan.

To maximise the number of videos, minimise revision requests by providing accurate information when requesting a new video.

Higher subscription plans, like the FIT and FLEX plan, offer five short video/review requests monthly.

For more monthly videos, additional subscriptions can be purchased. Contact us for more information.

We offer a variety of captions, like closed or engaging (animated) captions, but also translated subtitles.

With captions and subtitles,
readability is always key.

Engaging Captions

Animated captions can really stand out. Usually they match the language spoken in the video. We offer a range of styles. If you have something specific in mind, just let us know. You can send us a description, a YouTube link, or a screenshot through your client portal, and we’ll make it happen. Or simply let us decide the style. No matter which style you choose, readability always comes first.

Cut It Short - Samples of Engaging Captions

Subtitles

Subtitles are just another type of caption, but here’s the difference: subtitles appear when the video’s spoken language is translated into another language.

We ensure our subtitles are clean, simple, and easy to read by using a clear, non-animated sans-serif font, similar to what you’d see on TV or in the movies. This helps keep the viewer’s attention on the video itself, without any unnecessary distractions.

Subtitles can either be permanently embedded in the video (burned-in) or more commonly added via an external file, typically in SRT format. This is why platforms like YouTube can offer multiple subtitle language options layered over the original caption-less video.

About Video Requests, the Editing Process, Footage and Data

Numbers of completed, up to 30 second (30”) videos per monthly subscription depend on many factors, including their complexity.

Revision requests, response times, availability of video project files, clear brief, or requirements beyond plan parameters. All effect our video output numbers.

Our current subscriptions offer clients up to ten 30-second videos monthly, depending on their subscription plan.

However this is without any revision requests.

Production processes tend to smoothen out over time once your editor gets into your style, and you like our work, so quantities may vary.

When a subscription is paused, all current project data is retained and accessible to clients within the client portal.

Once unpaused, the subscription and project data can be used as before. Cut It Short retains finished video project footage for three months before deletion. Only final videos and edit projects are archived.

For private and personal use ensure to back-up, or download media footage or files in time.

After signing up, clients manage all video requests directly in their dedicated client portal. For a new video request, click ‘New Request’ in the client portal.

See more on how it works here.

During a new video request or review/revision, use the client portal to directly message the video editor or account manager.

For other inquiries, please use the contact page on our website.

Video reviews allow for error-checking and feedback. Multiple reviews can be conducted to refine a video. All subscription plans include video review and revision opportunities, adhering to subscription turnaround times. Approve the video in the client portal once satisfied, download it, and immediately submit a new video project request.

For meticulous refinement, use the Video Proofing Tool available in the FLEX Subscription Plan, which offers frame-by-frame analysis and on-screen drawing features.

Pause the subscription for up to six months if there are fewer video needs. Return when additional videos are needed without spoiling the remaining subscription period.

This feature is available for all quarterly subscriptions only.

That’s fine. Videos can still be created using stock footage if no raw footage is available.

However, filming personal footage ensures authenticity and better connection with the audience. Stock footage can be used as an exception.

Video, File Formats, Content, and the Client Portal

File size and footage length upload limits depend on the subscription plan: FUN and FIT subscriptions offer a 5GB or 10 minute maximum video footage size/lengths upload.

The FLEX subscription offers a 10GB or 15 minute raw footage size/lengths maximum upload, sufficient for short videos. Be economic with what you film, and hence upload.

One minute of footage recorded in FullHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) using the common H.264 codec, typically results in a file size of about 750MB. Also footage file sizes will vary per video-codec used in raw footage recordings.

Stock materials are sourced from reputable free and paid resources. Elements such as fonts, photos, icons, music, videos, and animations are all appropriately licensed. If licensed materials are used in a project, clients are notified in advance.

Different terms apply for reselling videos. Contact us for more information.

Videos are edited in HD (1280×720), Full HD (1920×1080) or 2K (2048×1080) resolution based on the subscription plan. Aspect ratios include 16:9 (widescreen), 9:16 (portrait), 1:1, and 4:5, suitable for various devices, social media, video platforms, and website usage.

Footage filmed in HD cannot turn in to higher resolution, unless it is upscaled in the edit process. The same applies for 2K, but then the other way around. It needs to be downscaled to become FHD or lower, and hence it decreases in resolution.

Note that our FUN and FIT subscriptions
only allow for HD or FullHD footage to be uploaded. Whilst our FLEX subscription allows for HD, FullHD or 2K footage to be used.

Yes, multiple videos can be created from one single footage upload, if the raw footage is sufficient in length and diversity to support multiple edits.

Provide clear instructions and preferences in the video project requests, so we know exactly what you want.

Preferred video footage formats are MOV, MP4, or M4V.

Text files we prefer in TXT, RTF, DOC or PDF. Or type texts directly in the dedicated client portal.

Logos and graphics in JPG, PNG or TIFF formats.

And audio files we like in WAV, AAC, AIFF, MP4 or MP3 formats.

All files can be uploaded from within the client portal. Video footage is uploaded via third party file transfer websites, which generate a download link to be pasted in client portal upon a new video request. Or provide a download link from a Google Drive, DropBox, or another file storage service. Detailed instructions are available in the Client Portal.

More info on footage uploads is available on the ‘How it works
 page.

Yes, the client portal is easily accessible from multiple devices, including smartphones using iOS or Android, and laptop or desktop computers.

All these also support the upload process for video footage and files.

Yes. Log-in links to the client portal are available on our website.

They are available via the header- and footer menu Log-in link for direct access. Clients can also manually bookmark this log-in URL in their browser.

In general: a higher video quality leads to a bigger file size.

One minute video footage recorded at 1920 x 1080 FullHD at 30 FPS, can size up to 750 MB.

The variety of video recording-settings available on most mobile phone and video camera’s, significantly influence file sizes of your video footage.
Many video file size calculators available on the web.

So, approach your filming economically. Don’t just film anything, just because you can.

A proofing tool is ideal for those who want detailed control down to the last video frame.

We offer an enhanced workflow via an advanced video proofing tool, allowing clients to make detailed reviews. It is an excellent video player with accurate playback, and features capabilities like;

   -frame-by-frame comments
-visual annotations directly on video frames
   -track edits
   timestamped comments, and visual annotations
   -draw notes on-screen
   -team-share options
   -compare versions
   -approve video edits

It streamlines collaboration and feedback between team members and editors, and this makes the revision process more efficient, ensuring the final product meets the clients expectations exactly.

Supported Browsers

Our video proofing tool can be accessed via a browser window, with Google Chrome on both Mac and PC being the top choices. Safari and Firefox are also preferred. Whilst mobile devices are partially supported. However, each browser may display colours slightly differently, which is beyond our control.
