Anyone can shock a scroll for half a second. Audiences have seen every stunt, every absurd pivot, every ‘unhinged’ campaign built purely to trend for a day. The agencies actually winning right now aren’t chasing weird for its own sake, they’re anchoring it to something real underneath the noise.
That anchor is what separates a viral clip from a viral clip that actually sells. A talking product or a surreal 30-second sketch only works if the edit knows exactly when to pull back and let the brand message land. Strip out that discipline and ‘weird’ just becomes forgettable noise with better lighting.
This is where the cutting room matters more than the concept. The wildest brief in the world still needs a structure, a rhythm, a moment where the joke resolves into the point. Raw footage doesn’t create that instinct on its own, it needs someone trained to find it.
Weird gets the click. Structure gets the sale. The cut is what turns unhinged into unforgettable 👍
