Though visually very interesting, a blue bassist on a blue bass in a blue table tennis hall for a song called ‘Shock!’ isn’t a coincidence. It’s a decision made before a single frame was shot. Will Kindrick built a promo where the color story does half the storytelling job before the performance even starts.
Most performance videos treat location as an afterthought, four walls and decent lighting. This one turns the venue into the punchline. Blue tables, blue bass, blue everything, then a title that dares you to notice. That’s not set-dressing. Just a concept with teeth.
The lesson for anyone shooting performance content: pick one visual idea and commit to it everywhere, not just in the wardrobe or just in the lighting. Viewers clock consistency before they clock talent. Give them both at once and the footage does the selling for you.
A great concept still needs a ruthless edit to land. The idea sparks the shock. The cut delivers it.
