META’S SELLING A FEELING. THAT’S THE JOB.
Zuckerberg didn’t drop a spec sheet. He dropped a film, because a wall of AI features doesn’t move anyone and a story does. That’s the entire game of persuasion in one move, and it’s the same game every brand plays the second footage lands on a timeline.
Facts don’t calm fear. Narrative does. Meta knows a paid and earned campaign built on cold reassurance gets scrolled past in half a second, so they built something with a beginning, a turn, and a payoff instead. That’s not spin, that’s structure doing the convincing.
Most brands have the raw footage sitting right there, the proof, the story, the moment that reframes the whole pitch. It just never gets cut into something worth watching. The material was never the problem.
Meta needed a narrative to shift a nation’s fear. You might just need one to shift a scroll. Same job, different stakes, same fix: someone has to cut it short. ✂️
